Why university events need a ticketing system
University event organizers collect money from students, and that money has to be accounted for. When sales run through WhatsApp messages and payment screenshots, someone has to manually reconcile every entry: who paid, how much, which tier, and whether they actually showed up at the gate.
A ticketing platform fixes the three problems that dominate campus events: collecting payment in advance, controlling entry on the day, and accounting for money afterwards. Each buyer pays online and immediately receives a ticket that can be checked at the door.
What ticketing for a university event involves
A typical paid university event has a few ticket types — student rate, guest/staff rate, early-bird price, or VIP seating. Buyers pay in Naira with a card, USSD or bank transfer. On the day, the gate team needs to confirm that each person actually bought a ticket and let each ticket in exactly once.
Attendance numbers matter too. Organizers want to know how many student tickets sold versus guest tickets, and how many people actually entered, so the event report matches the money collected.
How UNITIC handles university events
On UNITIC you create the event, set your ticket tiers and prices, and share one link. Buyers use guest checkout — they do not need a UNITIC account, they just pay the displayed price and receive a unique QR ticket by email.
At the gate, your team scans each QR once. A code that has already been scanned, or a screenshot of someone else’s ticket, can be rejected. Ticket money sits in your organizer pool and can be withdrawn to a Nigerian bank account (minimum ₦1,000).
Organizer fees are 5% platform + ~2% gateway — buyers pay exactly the price you display.
